About SAT Exam
Overview of the SAT exam
Test Format: Seven 25-minute sections, two 20-minute sections, and a 10-minute section.
Scoring: Students receive a 200-800 score in each of the three areas. These are added together for an overall 600-2400 score.
Writing: Multiple choice questions test grammar, diction, and usage. Additionally, there is a 25-minute essay graded by a real person.
Critical Reading: Students read passages of various lengths and answer questions about each passage. Also, Sentence Completion questions test logic and vocabulary.
Math: The test includes math through a typical student's junior year of high school: (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, functions, and statistics.)- primarily multiple choice, with 10 "student produced response" questions.
Offered Seven Times a Year: The SAT is administered 3X in the fall, 1X in the winter, and 3X in the spring.
Many Students Take the SAT More Than Once: no limit-however, colleges you apply to will have access to all your scores.
